About Us

From 1989 to 1997, the AAHC functioned as a volunteer coalition of individuals, agencies, and organizations working together to address the health issues of African Americans in North/Northeast Portland, Oregon. The AAHC became a non-profit organization in January 1998.The work of the AAHC is undertaken with the firm belief that the key to promoting and improving health among African Americans is best achieved by interventions that build capacity in the community, and that strengthen, empower, and sustain healthy lifestyles among African Americans.
