About Us

Clark K8 @ Binnsmead has just become a K-8 school for the 2008-09 school year. We have received the Portland Schools Foundation Award for Excellence in Education, which recognizes high-performing Title I schools, in 2001, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. Clark K8 @ Binnsmead provides a comprehensive academic program with 90 minutes of reading each day, 90 minutes of math and 45 minutes of writing, in addition to science and social studies in grades K-6. Our 7th and 8th grade students have 45-minutes periods of instruction for reading, writing, math, social studies, science, and also have an elective. Strong academics are enhanced with PE, technology, art, Spanish I & II, and a music program. In addition to classroom teachers, students receive support from an extensive team of on-site specialists, including ESL, Special Education, Title I, speech pathologist, school psychologist, school counselor, assistant principal and student management specialist.
